Every CGM sensor is slightly different, and the manufacturer’s instructions for use — included in the box — are always the authority on how to apply your specific device. That said, a few general principles apply across most sensors:
Choose a clean, dry area. Most sensors are designed for the back of the upper arm, away from the shoulder and elbow.
Prepare the skin. Clean the application site and let it dry fully before applying — moisture and lotion residue can affect how well the adhesive holds.
Apply firmly and hold. Most applicators require you to press and hold for a few seconds to ensure the sensor is properly seated.
Avoid friction points. Tight clothing or repeated rubbing against the sensor can loosen the adhesive earlier than expected.
If you’re ever unsure about application, expiry, or how a sensor is behaving, refer to your device’s official instructions or speak with your healthcare provider.
